OK, I should back up a bit and explain.....
Several months ago, my husband's local office of his company closed down. While he had been looking for work for several months, due to the current job market, nothing had come up when the closing date came around. Luckily, the corporate office let him transfer to another office and continue working there. It wasn't the greatest arrangement since the next closest office is TWO hours away. Not the best news during these ginormous gas prices days. It was deemed temporary based on a future job contract that they wanted his help on. The only draw back to this future job contract was the location....North Carolina! This was NOT the best news but the alternative was worse....no job. So he drove the obnoxious distance each day (he carpools most days for part of the way) and continued to look for something closer.
Last week, they found out that they would not be getting the contract and my husband was told to consider this his two weeks notice. Very Bad News. Of course my husband decided not to mention this to me at that time(with good reason since I would have flipped out). On Monday, his boss called him into his office and told him that he would have a job until he found a new one or they needed him for something specific and would give him a contract. So crisis averted, hubby has a job for as long as it takes to find a closer one which we both hope is soon so we can cut down on our gas consumption.
